Dystonia
Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder, in which muscle contractions cause twisting and/or repetitive, involuntary and excessive movements. It may be hereditary of caused by other factors such as birth-related, physical trauma, infection, poisoning, or reaction to pharmaceutical drugs, especially neuroleptics. Treatment is difficult and has been limited to minimizing the symptoms, since there is no cure.
As for symptoms, they are varied. Many sufferers have continual pain, cramping and relentless muscle spasms due to involuntary muscle movements. Others are possible including lip smacking.
Dystonia can affect the eyelids called focal eyelid dystonia (Blepharospasm), the vocal cords called Spasmodic Dysphonia, the lower face called Ormandibular Dystonia, the neck called Cervical Dystonia or Spasmodic Torticollis, and more.
Over 25 years ago, I was diagnosed with focal eyelid dystonia which affected my eyelids with excessive twitching. I tried a variety of treatments including eyelid injections, but nothing seemed to make an impact on diminishing my symptoms until I began a special nutritional program that could nourish my brain and body. Now my symptoms have been reduced significantly. If you wish to try this nutritional program, I can be your personal wellness coach to help you diminish your symptoms and improve the quality of your life.
