Focal Hand Dystonia - Hand Dystonia
Hand dystonia is a neurological disorder involving abnormal hand and finger positions, cramps and non-coordinated movement of the hand and fingers. It interferes with activities such as writing or playing a musical instrument by causing involuntary muscular contractions. The condition is sometimes “task-specific,” meaning that it is generally only apparent during certain activities. Focal hand is neurological in origin, and is not due to normal fatigue. The loss of precise muscle control and continuous unintentional movement results in painful cramping and abnormal positioning that makes continued use of the affected body parts impossible.
People with brain related hand tremors that are brain related will also be considered to have hand dystonia.
Over 25 years ago, I was diagnosed with a focal eyelid dystonia called Blepharospasm. It is evidenced by uncontrolled and involuntary eye closure or blinking. I had tried eye injections twice and it affected my eyes and the side of my face and thereby changed my smile. I stopped the injections. Later I found a natural whole food that nourished my brain and body. Within six weeks, my symptoms had diminished significantly and I was no longer blinking excessively. Since this nutritional program helped me, maybe it could help you.
